Greetings! My pseudonym is Sandra Yuen MacKay which incorporates my Chinese maiden name. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia.
I have a Fine Arts Diploma from Langara College and a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of British Columbia.
I am a visual artist and writer. My writing has appeared in The Bulletin, Front Magazine, The Prairie Journal, and other publications. I also published My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness (Bridgeross Communications) and Chop Shtick, a humorous novel about artists who meet at a cafe. Both are available on Amazon and Amazon Kindle.
I am also a speaker on recovery and give talks to students, families and mental health professionals.
I was the recipient of the Coast Mental Health 2012 Courage to Come Back Award and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Currently, I am a Board Director for the Coast Foundation Society which governs Coast Mental Health.
